Shooting Locations: Wrestling mats are approximately 38′ x 38′ and you can safely stand near the edge of the mat. Choose a spot near the bottom row of the stands next to the mat and wait for the action to present itself in a way you want to capture it.
Shutter Speed Range: 1/250 to 1/500. Can be as low as 1/125 or less if the wrestlers are jockeying for position (lighting permitting).
Tip(s): Movement of the wrestlers and referee is often and erratic. Attempting to follow the action by moving will cause many missed opportunities. Wrestling is one of the best sports to capture expressions so don’t be afraid to shoot tight.
