Overview of Nikon D850 lab tests

Bo Stahlbrandt (bgs)

Keywords: d850, lab, test, quality

What a significant camera this has turned out to be in Nikons line of excellent bodies. Not only is it right up there with the few medium format cameras still on the market on DXOMark (granted, Sony has shown a strong performance on the list as well)

The Nikon D850 scores 100 points.

But... it is also loved by professional Nikonians like Marsel van Oosten. He created an 8K Time Lapse with the D850 that he shot in Botswana and Namibia, locations he knows very well.

The Nikon D850 sells for a street price of ca $3,200 USD in the US and ca 3,600 EUR in Europe.

Lab tests

Below, we are compiling a set of lab tests for the Nikon D850 and we will expand the overview as new tests become available.

First up is the lab test from Image Engineering out of Germany, which was ran by PDN Online September 29th, 2017

I wonder if you would care to comment on the so called medium format digital cameras. Their sensor size does not even come close to the traditional medium size film formats. I still use Yashica D so the concept is not foreign to me. I personally think that D 850 should be on top of the list.
