Config Spreadsheets for Nikon Cameras

Bo Stahlbrandt (bgs)

Keywords: manuals, sheets, configuration, setup

Need some configuration help for your Nikon camera? Want to know how other photographers set up their camera and alter their Custom Settings to get the most out of it for a specific kind of photography? Below we have collected a series of speradsheets (cheat sheets) for several Nikon cameras where members are including well-tried settings for various types of shoots.

The spreadsheets have been provided by members and the leading member of a project is listed in the index below. Very often creating a sheet is a team effort with multiple members adding and discussing the sheets and seldom the sheet has been built by one member from scratch.

We are updating this page quite often and if you did not find what you need, please use the Post Nikon Config Question button below and tell us about it.

The configuration sheets for Nikon cameras are available as MS Excel, sometimes also as "read-only" PDFs or in Apple's Mac OS Numbers format.

We are providing these sheets "as is" and they have different level of content. Some are simple templates with no values for the custom configuration settings whereas others are quite rich in data and include various settings for different type of photography.

The original post in the forums for each sheet is included. Often these discussion threads are extremely long and might take time to load in your browser. Due to the sheer size of some of the discussions, they are also often hard to follow, one of the reasons for us to have created this central index page.

You need to be logged in at Nikonians to be able to access the spread sheets.

If you have any questions regarding a configuration sheet or need help, you can post that in the About Nikonians forum and we'll take it from there.

Tom, I would use the D800 spreadsheet which has a rich set of configurations. For more questions regarding your D850 and differences in settings vs the D800, please post any question you might have in the D850 forum:

I have a D850. Is the D750 spreadsheet close or would you go with the D800

@Yuvrajs - Correct, we don't have a D600 specific spreadsheet. I believe the D7000 sheet can be quite helpful even if there are differences between the two. You may also want to have a look the following post on D600 settings: and this article on the U1 and U2 settings: Hope this helps to some degree at least!

Nikonians Spreadsheets I have Nikon D600 and would be interested in Nikonians spreadsheet for the same. Alternatively which camera model will be closed to that to refer to? Thanks

@Sahara5591 glad you liked it. Yes moving on/off tripod and settings change is often an issue, not only for Z shooters.

Yes quite helpful. Would really enjoy a recommended ‘Tripod Use’ settings list for one of the 3 User modes on the Z system cameras (Z6ii in my case). When I transition from hand held to tripod...I usually forget some useful/necessary change..but only after I’m done shooting! This would be great for an amateur, hobbyist like myself. Thank you for all your work!

Thank you!
