The Cord 810 and 812 (supercharged version) were produced by the Cord Automobile division of the Auburn Automobile Company in 1936 and 1937. Styling was the work of designer Gordon M. Buehrig. Reportedly conceived as a Duesenberg, the 810/812 was the first American-designed/built front wheel drive car with independent front suspension, hidden door hinges, a rear-hinged hood, and pontoon fenders with hidden headlamps. Its most famous feature was the "coffin nose", a louvered wraparound grille, from which its nickname derived. Supercharging was made available on the 1937 812 model with a mechanically driven unit, distinguished by the brilliant chrome-plated external exhaust pipes mounted on each side of the hood and grill. Aperture Priority, Pattern Metering, SB-900 Fill Flash at EV-1.33 with SW-13H Diffusion Dome.
