========================================================== THE NIKONIAN http://www.nikonians.com Regular Newsletter #13 08-MAY-2001 =========================================================== In this issue: 1. Editors Note 2. Congratulations to the winners 3. Upcoming Events From Our Calendar Coordinator 4. Is Your F100 Working Ok? 5. Nikonians Photo Adventure 1. Editors Note =========================================================== Thanks for your interest in our non-profit community for Nikon users. Time flies by as you have fun. The last issue of THE NIKONIAN was sent out to you back in mid March, and now we're already in May. We're sorry about this pause and will do our best to keep the periodicy of the newsletter as smoth and even as possible. The last weeks did not only give us some short glimpses of spring here in continental Europe, but also a decent share of new members and more interaction in our community: Over 3,300 members and 1.5 million hits last month! Our winner of the 2000 Nikonians Photo Contest, Lassi Tolvanen from Finland, happily received his nice gear the other week (see last issue). Lassi has provided us with some of his great work which is going to be online soon. We have received *a lot* of response on our survey and it's really nice to see how you Nikonians out there help out making our community being the best place to be at for Nikonians, giving us hints on how to improve and sending supportive words :-) If you're registered and haven't filled out the survey yet, please do so: http://www.nikonians.com/html/about/survey_post_form.html We have stopped sending out subscriptions to forum postings. Why you may ask. Well, two reasons: 1) Many members did not feel comfortable with subscribing and unsubscribing by themselves, often leaving them "flooded" with emails they really didn't wanted. 2) Our server didn't have enough memory to support sending out more than 3 days of queued subscriptions. We will turn on the subscription sends as soon as we have a new server - hopefully this will be in early Q3-2001. Oh, and by the way, we've just turned one year old, so big thanks goes out to all of our members and supporters throughout the world! Bo & JRP 08-May-2001 bo@nikonians.com jrpalacios@nikonians.com 2. Congratulations to the winners =========================================================== Due to the pause between the last issue of THE NIKONIAN and the current one, we have two proud monthly contest winners to present: Jeff Brown from the USA and Stipe Surac from Hungary. Comparing the two photographs, they are *very* different, yet both tell their own story. Jeff Brown's "Enchanted Forest" wins our contest for March and Stipe Surac's "Young Tunafish Cutter" wins our April contest. To both of you: Big congratulations guys! Is Your F100 Working Ok? =========================================================== Quite a number of members have reported various problems in, on and around their F100's. At the same time, many Nikonians seemingly never have had any problems with their F100. One of our old hands, BJ Nicholls does a reality check in the F100 Users Group: http://www.nikonians.com/dcforum/DCForumID62/81.html 5. Nikonians Photo Adventure =========================================================== If we could get a Photo Adventure Trip set up for fellow Nikonians in 2002, what would it be and where would we go? The idea steems from our moderator Wendy Folse.
