A great feat and we congratulate Lassi hoping that he will have fun with his new equipment. Second place goes to Cecilia Finsel/USA and third place goes to James Shadle/USA. The first prize consists of amongst others a Nikon F100, four Nikkor AF-S's: 17-35, 28-70, 80-200, 300 ED IF Speedlights, bags, tripods, heads and film. The winning images: http://www.nikonians.com/html/contests/finals_2000.html On March 15th 2001, the non-profit online organization Nikonians (www.nikonians.com) held its annual photo contest finals, where amateur and professional photographers from all around the world competed for a single prize of photography equipment valued over 10,000 USD. Over 300 photographers submitted their work and the organization's 2,500 members voted for each monthly winner. A total of five photographers made it to the finals where a jury of ambitious amateurs and professional photographers, the Nikonians Masters Society, elected the winner. The money for the generous prize, a complete set of Nikon professional photography equipment, was donated by the founders of nikonians.com who, according to their own words, "wanted to give young photographers the chance to have just as much fun with photography as we have had for over many many years". "We believe that this prize will create several new, interesting online contests where photographers can attend free of charge and free of fear of e-mail spam, winning more than just a digital consumer camera or a webpage" says J. Ramón Palacios, initiator of the contest and co-founder of the organization. 3.
