First of all, a Happy 4th of July to all of our US American Nikonians! With close to 400 registered members, our community is steadily expanding. We are happy to announce that many members decided to join our June Contest! The Nikonians June Contest had some great activity, but several photos were late and didn't make it. They will be included for the July contest. See also "Rules modified" in this newsletter for more important stuff on our new contest policies. We sincerely thank you for your interest. Bo Stahlbrandt (bo@nikonians.com) Jose Ramon Palacios (jrpalacios@nikonians.com) 04-July-2000 2. Winner of the Nikonians June 2000 Contest =========================================================== The members of Nikonians voted "Afterstorm" by Aster Tseng as the winner of the Nikonians June 2000 Contest. Congratulations Aster! A very nice photograph indeed :-) Aster receives the Certificate of Nikonians Achievement and is given the opportunity to participate in our 2000 Annual Photo Contest with great prizes worth over 10,000 USD. "Afterstorm" can be viewed in the Winner's Gallery at the site. If you want to participate for the July contest, please refer to: http://www.nikonians.com/html/contests/index.html 3. Rules modified for the Nikonians Contest =========================================================== Our policies for the contest have been modified to better serve all participants: How to vote ******************* To vote for a picture in the monthly contest, fill out the new voting form using your Nikonians username and the number of the picture you're voting for. Voting issues: 1. You must be a registered member to be able to vote 2. You can only vote once a month, in the second half of it. Deadline or last day to cast a vote on the pictures received any given month is the last day of that same month. Missing the deadline means that the vote doesn't count, nor does the vote count if you're too early with the vote. 3. You can only vote for a single picture in a single category 4. You cannot vote for your own picture Should no single winner be elected in any given month, an announcement will be made to the discussion forums, asking all members to vote for the pictures with the same number of votes. The duration of this extended election is three days. This procedure might be repeated until a clear winner is found. How to participate ******************* The following issues must be taken into account to be able to participate: 1. You must be a registered member to be able to participate 2. The deadline for entering any given monthly contest is the 15th day of the month. If you miss this deadline, your entry will automatically be made for the following month. 3. Contestants should receive an automatic response of receipt of entries. If that is not the case, the contestant should resubmit. 4. If you want to participate in the contest, send an email to contest@nikonians.com including the picture(s) and the photographic data needed. 4. Administrator of the Galleries =========================================================== We have a new Administrator for the Contests and Member Galleries. His name is Tom Vine (tgvf5) and he can be reached at: tgvf5@nikonians.com respectively gallery@nikonians.com If you want to set up your own gallery at Nikonians, please send an email to Tom at gallery@nikonians.com, incl. the standard data. Please refer to: http://www.nikonians.com/html/galleries/index.html for additional info. Thanks Tom for helping out! 5. Send your favourite gallery photo as a postcard =========================================================== With the new version of our photo gallery, each photo can be used for sending out personalized, webbed postcards. It's easy, just go to the full image of the photograph in the gallery and click the link "Send as a postcard" at the bottom of the page. You then set up the postcard according to your personal taste and preferences and send it to someone. Try it out! 6. Partnership with Nikonlinks =========================================================== As you may have noticed, Nikonians member Don Ferrario, the owner of the best Nikon links site on the net (www.nikonlinks.com) and Nikonians have entered a partner- ship were we link to each others sites. Don runs our banner on his site and we run Don's Nikonlinks banner at our main page. If you (for some strange reasons) never have been to nikonlinks, please check it out - it's worth more than just an image! http://www.nikonlinks.com Should you be interested in entering a partnership with Nikonians, please send us an email: editorial@nikonians.com 7. Be proud! Show that you're a Nikonian and win a Coolpix =========================================================== No need to be shy! Show that you're a proud Nikonian by participating in the "Proud to be a Nikonian program". It's easy, just include either one of the Nikonians logos or one of the banners at your site! There are three logos and three cool banners available. As a small thank you, the site that links the most with us through the program will receive a Nikon Coolpix 950! The number of hits received throughout the program will be evaluated in December 2000. The winner will be announced January 2001. 8. Nikonians at the cyber race track =========================================================== thanks to member Tony Wayman, Nikonians now has it's own racing car :-) Tony designed the car which he also drives at various online racing sites. To see the Nikonians racing car, please visit: http://www.nikonians.com/html/about/nikonians_racing.html Cool Tony! 9. Banners allover =========================================================== We have decided to run an advertising campaign for Nikonians, placing our banners on various sites on the net throughout the coming months. So, don't be too surprised if you find the Black&Orange banners allover the place! Thanks to private fundings done by generous people, this campaign was made possible while they believe in our cause: To create the #1 community for Nikonians on the web. 10. Grey market - What is it? =========================================================== Many members have asked us "what is grey market"? Doug has the answer for you at: http://www.nikonians.com/dcforum/DCForumID26/5.html 11. Starting out with nudes =========================================================== Bill has some great hints for anyone of you wanting to start out with nudes: http://www.nikonians.com/dcforum/DCForumID54/1.html 12.
