I have recently purchased a new Nikon D610 with the 18-35 f/3.5-4.5G AF-S wide-angle zoom lens.

I would like to know when and where is it best to use each metering method on a Nikon DSLR.
- When is "matrix" metering best served?
- When is "center-weighted" metering best served?
- When is "spot" metering best served?

ALSO, where would YOU NOT (photographic sin) use each of the metering methods?

I am loving my D610 with the 18-35G lens because it is a relatively light combination!

Many thanks given to other Nikonians for responding to this!

Cheers,
