I’m still considering the D600 but I was wondering how the D600 may handle manual focus lenses such as the ZF 21 f2.8 or similar. I read that Nikon doesn’t have a 'centered' illuminated focus screen dot. The dot is apparently off to the side. The KR lens article was from 2009 so maybe its’ different today?
In my opinion the position of the focus dot is not important. The fact that it is there is impotent, although if you have to rely on the dot to achieve manual focus you may not get the best focus possible.
Worth noting that LiveView was a manual focus revolution for me. This is assuming you're working from a tripod, since this doesn't really work hand-held. You can pull up the image recorded directly by the sensor on the rear display, and zoom in to a very high level of magnification. This allows very accurate tweaking of focus that's just not possible at all with a phase-detect AF system. All my old MF lenses suddenly found a new life on my LiveView cameras.
