Should I ever use my D7000 again?

So now that I have a D600, my D7000 sits on the coffee table by the patio with my 70-300VR mounted and ready for backyard bird shots. I have used it once with the D600 to minimize lens changing at a concert and I like having a backup. But...

I seen many shooters tout the extra reach one gets with the AP-C sensor. At 300mm, I'm really getting 450, etc. But, on the D600, I have 50% more resolution (24MP vs 16MP). Can't I crop on the D600 to give the same "size" as what I shoot on the D7000 and have the pictures look pretty much the same? (excluding DOF and DR)
