I will be shooting High Dynamic Range (HDR) panoramas with my D600. I will be shooting 3 brackets with 2 EV steps between shots. I want to order the shots - 0 +. Manual mode is the proper exposure setting when shooting panoramas.

My question is how do I meter for this setup? Does the D600 take the current exposure setting and subtract 2 EV steps for the underexposed bracket, and then add 2 EV steps for the overexposed bracket? Or does the D600 use the current exposure setting as the starting point for the bracket? In this case the underexposed bracket.
