I know this has been asked a lot but my question is twisted a bit.
If you were about to receive a new camera as a gift and could choose between the D600 or D800 which would you pick. I ask this because I am more interested in the best camera for ME opposed to thinking the more expensive has to be better. I have a far collection of full frame lenses. i like to do travel photography, still life, product some portraits and modeling.
I shoot a lot of 4x5 film and MF so manual shooting is not a problem. I do not want to have to dig through menus to get to the basic controls like ISO, WB, flash controls etc. that are somtime buried in a menu somewhere.

No sports or anything that needs a really fast frame rate. I like to work with available light as much as possible. The video part has very little interest for me. I guess I would use it a bit when we travel.

Physical size and weight are important if it is enough to make a difference. One or two ounces are not enough but 5-6 or more is enough to consider. Sometimes cameras handle like it was lighter than it really is.

Thanks
