I received a D600 from the Xmas promotion. I found it has a dusty sensor within a week, 400 shots only. I returned it for exchange. So far, it is still back order, 3 weeks already. I wonder if Nikon is holding the delivery because of the manufacturing change or difficulty?
It seems that B&H got a clean batch of D600 because many reports of clean sensor with 306xxxx were from B&H. Unfortunately, I got it from Adorama. There was one recent report of 51xxxxx, a Canadian number, shipped from Adorama. I wonder how other vendors are doing these days?
Adorama gave me the same story on Jan 15th, saying it would be weeks before a replacement D600 was available.
However, when I complained to a customer service supervisor (named Jen), she shipped one out that day. But I did have to pay for it upfront and got a refund when my defective D600 was received by them.
This treatment made me question if I will ever buy from Adorama again.
Don, What SN did you get? Any debris? Mine was after 1/15 and still had the oil deposition, circular translucent spots. I have to use f/22, focus at infinity, remove VR, 2" long exposure to see tens of them at only 100 clicks. I believe they will grow over time.
I have a 306xxx serial number D600 that has the dust/oil spot problem. I purchased it from Adorama during the Xmas Deal but it was backordered and shipped in early January. I noticed the dust spots after about 2,500 shots at f/11. I was able to blow everything out with a rocket blower, it appeared clean at f/22. Since then I've shot another 1,000+ shots and I just tested today and there are more spots. I blew it out again and was unable to remove all of the spots this time, I am now contemplating a wet clean or sending it to Nikon.
