I agree - I understand not putting the info out there prior to the camera's announcement, however, I would like to be reviewing it while I wait for my D600 to get here.
It doesn't make any sense to hold it back after the news is released - obviously, there aren't going to be any other instruction manuals for the D600 for weeks or months. And once I have the camera in my hot little hands, I'm not going to want to go through the manual with very much patience.
I would think that releasing the manual asap for owners to learn would avoid a lot of bad PR when new owners post/tweet/etc about "problems" with their new cameraa that are actually operator error issues.

Nikon is pretty funny at times. They announce a new camera and a week later the market is actually flooded with the D600. You can pick one up almost anywhere in the USA unlike the D800 when it was released. The PDF manual however isn't available on the website. That is a first for Nikon a ton of new cameras available before the PDF manual.

Let me tell you Jim I just received the D600 and have took quite a few pictures. The camera is outstanding. I don't see any flaws the autofocus system is super. I have used the D700 and D800. In my opinion much better than both of them. The D700 is nice but 12mp and 5mp crop mode didn't cut it for me. The D800 I used had major auto focus issues. This camera is compact and gets the job done. It amazing!
It's weird that Nikon Europe has it when USA doesn't. I contacted Nikon through their website & sent an inquiry in yesterday morning (9:30am CST). I received the following reply last night (7:50pm CST):
"Response Via Email (Adriel S.) 09/20/2012 08:50 PM Dear Mr. Wood,
Thank you for contacting Nikon technical support. .
Unfortunately the users manual is not available for download, yet.
Best regards, Adriel S. "
So why Nikon USA couldn't direct me to the Nikon Europe site is beyond me. Or at least offer to email me when it was available. I love my Nikon products but the experiences I've had with Nikon customer service - not so much.
