Have been using a D80 since it was released, and I was on the fence debating the move up to a FX sensor. The bundled deal at Adorama (with Lens, extra battery, wifi dongle, and more) was too much to resist!
I had the same question when the D7000 went on sale for Black Friday with a kit lens. I only wanted the body so decided to wait. It seemed logical to me that Nikon would discount the body after the kit sale was over if they had decided to boost sales of this model by using discounts. My gamble paid off and a few days after Black Friday they dropped the price of the body to $896. I don't claim any knowledge or expertise on Nikon's pricing strategy, but it would not surprise me if they drop the price of the body sometime between the 16th and Christmas to get those last minute holiday sales and/or drop the price right after Christmas for the New Year sales. A decent discount on the body would be very tempting
This looks like an amazing deal. I hate having buyers remorse, after having paid $2100 soon after release. I will console myself with already haven taken about 3000 pictures with this incredible camera. Those pictures were the price of early purchase. It's always hard to know when to jump in or keep waiting. Now looks like a good time for more people to take the leap.

I ordered from crutchfield with the lens last week for $2500, then the price drop, 2 minute call to crutchfield and they gave me back the $500. They seem to be a class act all the way. I may begin purchasing more from them then from amazon.
You're right. Excellent deal... if you ordered on Friday. I ordered mine on Thursday BEFORE the deals were announced from Adorama (Camera Body only). So, will I miss out on the lens, and other goodies? I'll be calling them today to see if they'll honor their new prices/deals on my Thursday order (It wasn't to be shipped til Monday). What do you think will happen? Sign me WORRIED... Dave

For those who ordered a D600/Lens Combo at the higher price.
If you used your credit card, many of them have a 90 day price protection clause in them, so you still might save the 500.00. Call your Credit Card company and ask. Also some even double the manufacturers warranty. You don't know unless you call and ask
PS--Just ordered one, but told them NOT to ship unless the serial number starts with 305xxxxx. I hope this serial is good.

Went through about 3 days of calls and e-mail. Finally got ahold of very kind Customer Service person who said she'd check into the possibility of making good on the new price drop/package. 1 day later, it appears as though Adorama is shipping out the items that were missing from the original deal. Overall, pretty satisfied with their work to make good. Thanks to my Nikonian friends and their encouragement. Happy Holidays to all! Dave
Looking at upgrading from a D300 to the D600. My concern is all the dust issues that I been reading. With the current deals it almost seems like a no brainer to make the upgrade. I own no DX lens which I think makes it easier to do.
Dennis, I am one of those who did have a dust problem and I also think that the issue is overdone. I cleaned the camera (a first for me) and after about 700-800 shots it is still clean. The current deal is a very good one. Time to jump! I paid $2100, but am nevertheless satisfied with the camera. It is a good one.
I bit on Amazon's deal this morning. D600 + 24-85 for $1,996. I didn't really want the lens, but the body only was the same price as body + lens. I figure I could sell the lens if I decide not to keep it.
Costco has the D600 with the 24-85 and the 70-300 plus the wireless adapter, large Nikon case, 32g SanDisk SD card, and a Nikon guide for $2389. If you bought the kit at the old price, they will give you the $500 back. Oh, they have a much better return policy than most big box stores too.
Picked one up the two lens kit at Costco's today for 2389.00. Looking forward to start shooting with it. Here is what is came with: 24-85 mm VR Lens 70-300 mm VR Lens WU-1b Wireless Mobile Adapter Nikon Case 32 GB SD Card Nikon School Guide to DSLR Photography
