So this is my first post! Anyway, long time D80 user looking to move to a D600 (I am over the dust issues and figure the IQ is worth cleaning a sensor). So narrowed down to amazon and crutchfield (mostly because I can use my AMEX points). I've read post about people believing that amazon may sell returned items as new (amazon.com as the seller, not third party). Anyone know any info about crutchfield? Anyone buy there D600 from either one?
I have purchased many items from Amazon and never have I received a questionable photographic item from them. Their return policy is exceptional. I only purchase items from Amazon where Amazon is the vendor.
I did have to return a D600 (from first batch) due to a problem with the camera but Amazon was not to blame.
I have also bought many photography items from Amazon, and I have never received anything that appeared to be used.
For proof that the D600 has not been previously used, the first time you turn it on just make sure the first thing you see is a screen to set your language. That is followed by screens to set your time zone, date, and time.
Cameta generally gets good marks - as do B&H, Adorama, Berger Brothers, Roberts, and Hunts. All camera stores get occasional returns, and you hope that neither buyers nor retailers abuse that opportunity.
If you have more questions about stores we'll probably need to move the dialog to the Shops Forum which is specifically for this kind of question.
I wound up getting it from Crutchfield, was able to use my amex points there (had to use about 30,000 more then if I would have got it from amazon). Considering that Crutchfield states right on their page New, Open Box, and Blem versions for purchase, I figured that was my best bet.
