Hello everyone. As the question has been raised to RRS owners but not to Kirk owners: I plan to buy a D600, do I also have to purchase a new L-bracket or can I re-use the one from my D7000? Kirk makes good gear, especially replacement feet are stable. But saving 150 bucks would help. Thank you.
I also went from D7000 to D600 and had an L-bracket I needed to salvage. I originally purchased it on the internet but don't know if it is a Kirk or other generic. That said, the mounting slot has ample lateral adjustment and it has been perfectly useable with no issues in my case.
There is a slight raised edge on the bracket that is not perfect fit but still tightens nicely into the base of the camera. The worst that can happen is having to grind the bracket edge down some (which I have not seen a need to do) if you want a perfect fit.
I had to change kirk camera plates when I moved up to the d600 from the d7000. The depth of the cameras is really quite different. The d7000 is a bit narrower. If your plate is custom to the d7000 I doubt it will work.
