Long time D300 owner, figured I'd share my impressions for anyone making the switch.

Sold all my lenses and made the jump.

Dynamic range is amazing. The amount of detail this thing can pull from the shadows is amazing.
Auto ISO with lens detect for shutter speed floor is a nice option too.
It may seem like a cheesy add on, but the Time lapse movie mode is actually pretty awesome.
I setup my tripod in my hotel room out the window in japan and went for breakfast.
Came back to an auto stitched .MOV movie of the sunrise. Very easy to use, and I'm not big into movies.
Dual card slots is great
U1 U2 is awesome and easy to setup
Overall I like the camera a lot, here's a few of my dislikes.

I do miss a few features that sometimes have me wondering if I should have gone with the D800, I just don't see myself spending all that for a new body and all new lenses so...

AF points are very centered. I've never really had to recompose with my D300 as mode almost always nailed it for me. Now I find myself recomposing often.

No 1 click 100% zoom. Not the end of the world, but I miss it.

Miss the ISO button on top, but again just a new work flow, not a game changer.

Oil splatter- yes I have it. I don't see it in my pics but if I shoot at F22 you'd be shocked.
All over the thing at F22 but have yet to see it in my F9-F11 pics.
I'll prob wait a while and then just clean the sensor.
Never had to with my D300 and am bummed I need to with my new camera, but what you gonna do?

The latest 3 pics on here are all from the D600

If you have the $$ make the switch, I'm happy but a few little tweaks on this cam and it would be perfect. Oh well.
