Has anyone else received a RRS BD600 camera plate? I am talking about the plate only, not the L-Plate.
I got mine today and I'm a bit disappointed to see that the flange does not make contact with the camera body. I don't know if I got a slightly out-of-spec plate or if the design and fabrication process missed the mark here. Usually RRS is really good.
This plate is noticeably smaller than a similar plate for the lighter-bodied D7000 which I have and am quite happy with.
If you are not happy with the camera plate, contact RRS at 1(800)777-5557 or (805)528-6321 and explain your concerns. I am sure they will make it right. They have always been very helpful when I have called. Good Luck and Enjoy your Nikons!
It appears they are very concerned about this. I got a message today telling me that my D600 body plate was to be replaced because of a product problem. A new plate will be sent. I am asked to discard the original. I had NOT contacted them about thid.
It is good to hear that Really Right Stuff is being proactive and replacing the plates without customers even complaining. Mistakes happen, and it sounds like they are handling it the best way possible. That is the mark of outstanding customer service.
Not having owned a Kirk plate, I don't know - they are both good products and it is probably just a matter of prior experience. I have always thought RRS make extremely good products, stand by them and are very helpful.
