For those of you who are using the D600 with either LR4 or CNX2 with only 4 GB of RAM: Do you find these applications to be responsive, or, given the 24 megapixal files, does one absolutely have to add more RAM to their computer? I'm using an iMac, OS X 10.7.x.

Jerry, I'm not familiar with the Mac systems, but for the Windows based system (and LR3/4)I've read that 4 GB RAM is about bare bones and 8GB was recommended for smooth operation with no stalls. 12GB of course is much more better . You do realize too, that a 32 bit system will not give more than about 3.5 GB (for windows)of RAM no matter how much more you install. The information that I am alluding to was written before the release of the 800/800e/600. But why not try it out with your system and see?
Also I do not believe that LR has full support yet for the D600, hopefully others will begin to chime in. Sounds like you are long overdue for a comp. upgrade.

You might try processing some D600 files on your system to see how it responds with your editing software. I shoot lossless 14-bit RAW and usually see files in the 26-30MB range.
There are some D600 .NEF test files on this page http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/nikon-d600/nikon-d600THMB.HTM
Just scroll down to see them highlighted in blue.
The latest version of Lightroom 4.2 does support D600 .NEF with all features but the camera calibration version is beta and will likely be updated soon.
