I just received notice from Really Right Stuff that my D600 L-plate shipped today. The website still shows it on backorder and there is no photo, but maybe that will change soon now that they have some on hand.
I'm selling my RRS D300 L-Plate as I type. I'll be ordering a new one for my D600 soon. I couldn't live without one now that I've used one! If the D600 version is anything like the D300/700 version, it will be excellent.
RRS site says that their L Plate is not compatable with the D600 LCD screen cover and I confirmed that with a phone call to them. Had to go to Kirk for an L Plate that works with the LCD protector. Bummed! I really like RRS stuff!
The BD600-L L-plate arrived today. I like that it is a one piece plate, as opposed to the D7000 plate which is two pieces bolted together. It works fine with the MC-DC2 remote release plugged in, mounted on a ballhead in either landscape or portrait orientation.
The BD600-L wraps around the back of the D600 and comes up to the bottom of the word Nikon below the LCD monitor. So, while it will not allow the use of the Nikon LCD monitor cover, it will not interfere with the use of a Giottos or similar screen protector.
I am not using a screen protector on my D600 right now, but either a Giottos (my preference) or GGS screen protector will fit without interfering with the L-plate. I don't know the specific model numbers offhand.
