D600 in ST mode determines exposure when shutter button is pressed

Just an FYI, probably covered somewhere in the manual:

Other cameras I have used on automatic with self-timer determine exposure just before the shutter releases.

But when using back-button focusing with auto exposure, the D600 sets its exposure when the shutter release is pressed.

Normally that doesn't create a problem, but I was recently using a monopod to raise the camera to look over an obstacle. I would press the release, then lift the camera into the clear while the self-timer ran down--and most of the results were overexposed.

Workaround was obviously to press the release while holding the camera over the obstacle, then lift it into position for picture-taking.

This seems to me a minor oversight that might be corrected in a firmware update.
