Hi - I bought a copy of the 35mm f2.0 af-d for my D800e to carry around for street shooting and it is working out very well. The camera delivers outstanding resolution and the lens at 4.0 to 8.0 is really sharp. I'm getting great cityscape shots of Boston where I work. I like the field of view this lens provides I'll post a couple of examples I haven't converted any to Jpeg yet
I'm trying to decide on the 35mm f/1.4G as well. I've rented one for the long weekend to do some testing with my D800. I'll grab my 20 f/2.8D to take with me and post some comparisons. Also testing my 85mm f/1.4D against a rented 85mm f/1.8G this weekend. Hope the weather cooperates.
I recently purchased a copy of the 20mm f/2.8 D about 3 weeks ago.
I used it sparingly on my D300 and didn't pay a whole lot of attention. Then my D800 arrived and I started using it a good bit... unfortunately in my case the results were simply awful. That said, from everything I've read on the lens, I think i have a bad copy of it. KEH is going to exchange it for another copy.
I posted about it in one of the other forums - here's a side by side with my old AI-s 24mm f/2.8.
This is a 100% crop at f/8 (for both) about a third to halfway down the right edge. ISO was 800 to keep the shutter speed up. Manual focus using live view. I let the AF system try too, there was no appreciable difference.
