Just purchased a Kingston 32GB "Ultimate 600x" CF card and it will not format in my D800E. Returned it to Kingstgon (they indicated it should format) and they replaced it with a new one....still no format, get ERR message. Anybody else have this problem ??
Don't have the exact card but my Kingstons format in my D800. I would format them on a computer in MS-DOS then insert them into the 800E. Alternatively see if you can format them in another Nikon then insert in 800E. Let us know. ------------- Please visit my galleries: Reza Gorji Photography

It formats in the computer fine, I have not tried to reinsert it back in the 800, All my other Nikons take SD cards.Tried reinserting in the 800, no dice, wont read. In fack it just works fine in the computer. Transfered photos, data and all show fine, just wont work in the 800.
In order to figure this problem, does this happen with any other card. If the answer is yes, then the problem is likely the camera. Otherwise its the card. ------------- Please visit my galleries: Reza Gorji Photography

No has never happened with any other card, now using Sandisk in my 800. Its hard to believe its a 2nd bad card. Although the card is not "bad" as it works in the computer. Its and issue betweeen the Nikon and the Kingston 32gb 600x ultimate.
I get an ERR message when it tries to format "ERR Card" in the top window. As soon as I put the Sandisk card in, it gives me a count of the number of pictures I have room for and works fine. The Kingston just shows blank and the "ERR
There have been other posts over the years about problems with Kingston cards in Nikons. They make great memory products, and I wouldn't hesitate to put Kingston memory in one of my computers. Most of the posts just disputed the advertised speed for write or read vs. the actual speed.
Nikon specifically, on page 435 of the manual, gives you their recommendations for CF cards in the D800. I bought a couple of Lexar cards for my new but returned D800. I think that I like the Sandisk better and had been using them trouble free in my D700 and now in my D3s.
