Nikon D800 - Customize Command Dials
I need some help with the Customize Command Dials menu options.
On my D200 while in P mode, I was used to change shutter speed and aperture with the main command dial and sub command dial respectively.
Reading the D800 manual - Page 317, it appears that it should work the same way.
However I just can't get it to work.
I managed once to get the Main command Dial to change shutter speed but never the Sub to change aperture. Then all of a sudden none of them does anything and rotating them changes nothing.
Has somebody experienced the same?

Check p118 Flexible Program. I have only been able to make Flexible Program work in brighter lights, not indoors. It seems faulty to me.
In P mode you can select different shutter speed and aperture combinations by rotating the main command dial. Rotate right for wider apertures with faster shutter speeds. Go left for smaller apertures with slower shutter speeds.
Note: Aperture and shutter speeds are only controlled by the main command dial in Program made. The sub dial controls aperture in Aperture and manual modes.
p317 f9 Customize command dials is for switching dial directions or swapping the main and sub dials operations.

The D200 in 'P' mode the main command wheel varies shutter/aperture combinations maintaining the same exposure. Option b5 Easy Exposure Compensation enables the sub command wheel to dial in exposure compensation.
I've used this combo on my D200/300 and plan to when my D800 arrive in the next week or so.... I've reached #1 in the queue at my local shop - ordered it 3/29...
On the D800 it's option b4 see page 288 for Easy Exposure Compensation according to the manual. Should work the same as the D200/300.
