Hello all,

I am currently shooting with a D300S and I have been buying the FX lenses with the plan to evently add a FX camera to my gear. I like to shoot NEF and post process into JPG files and archive NEF files.

The recent release of the D800 is pretty cool, but I understand the NEF files are huge. Also the vertical grip is $450 and not interchangable with my D300S.

While I know this is being discussed in multiple threads all over the place, I am trying to decide to buy a clean D3, D700 or get the D800. I may still be able to find a D700 if this makes sense for me to do.

Since this information and comparisons have probably been mentioned in other threads, I was hoping to get some opinions from folks that may have direct experience with the different cameras or point me to the links to discussions that can help.

I am happy with my D300S and was thinking that the D700 would be a nice FX compliment to 300S someday.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks, Bruce
