Does the MC-20 (Remote Cord) work with the D800?
I’ve recently received a D800 and would like to test its focusing properties.
I know I can use the timer mode, but I have an MC-20 Remote Cord (I used on my F100) that I’d like to use for testing the D800.
The D800 manual on page 390 states:
"Extension Cord MC-21: Can be connected to ML-3 or MC-series 20, 22, 23, 25, 30, or 36. Only one MC-21 can be used at a time (length 3 m/9 ft 10 in.)."
(This is the only reference to the MC-20 I can find in the manual.)
I’m not sure if this is saying I can connect the MC-20 to the camera safely.
Anyone know if it would be safe to connect the MC-20 to the D800? If it won’t cause harm, I can test out the functionality.
Somewhat related: I could not find the user’s manual for the MC-20 and had a difficult time tracking it down online. For those interested, here’s the link:

I have used my MC-20 with my D800 as a remote release and it works fine.
I have not tried any of the timer functions but there is no reason why they would not work.
As far as I know the MC-21 is just an extension cord while the MC-36 is the modern update for the MC-20.
