You're probably right - although it could be a D4x with 36MP or more. Instead of making vague statements I wish Nikon would at least say which range they're referring to - i.e. full-size body, FX, DX, etc.
I think he may mean that 'amateurs' are less likely to view the 800E files so critically (i.e. at 100%) and therefore wouldn't notice the slight increase. In other words, the difference in detail between the 800 & 800E is there but you have to go looking for it.
I agree. He says that Nikon creates a different "BENEFIT" with each new camera. For D800 - resolution, for D4 - high ISO performance. I guess next DSLR will be D400 and the "benefit" will be SPEED! I even expect that this camera will beat D4 in order of speed performance.
