I have been searching for more info on this issue I have been having. It is driving me crazy, so I figured I would ask if anyone else has had this happen. I have had a D800 since launch, so it was one of the first off the production line. i have not had any issues and have loved the camera since day one. One of my favorite lenses for portraits is an older Nikon 85 f1.4. It has a manual aperture ring which I keep locked on f16. It has always worked with my D800 until recently. Now I get the fEE error on the lens like it can't figure out that the aperture is locked. I thought it was the lens, however I tried the same lens on my D7000 and everything works perfect. I then tried my 24 f2.8 with aperture ring on my D800 and got the same fEE error. Anyone know anything about this? It is driving me crazy!

I always get fEE error when my aperture ring on my 28-70 f2.8 comes off of f22 accidentally. On "D" series lenses, there is an f-stop that is shown on the ring in RED. It should be used to eliminate the fEE error. Once I reset the lens to f22....it goes away and I start shooting.
Maybe your camera is not sensing that you have the lens set correctly.
Still no luck. I have tried everything with the lenses and both are still giving the error. I will try cleaning the contacts in the camera to see if that helps. Any pointer on that? I will search around to see if I can find some info. I may just have to send in to Nikon to look at. My wife is due on February 2 with our first child so I don't want to be without my D800 for long.
