Finally got a brand new d800 from a decent seller, with 2 years BB Geek Squad Protection plan. Upgrading from a D90 to D800 was a tough decision. Considered D600 before, just got scared away by the dust problem. New step is saving up for better lenses. Now mounted on 50 f1.8. Gotta shoot around over the weekend, and experience this luxury toy!
Welcome to Nikonians you will find it a very good resource as you start to master the D800. I got mine about 18months ago and love it. Your upgrade from the D90 to the D800 is a big step. You should notice huge changes. after 10,000 photos with my D800 I am still learning neat things about it.
Sonny - Enjoy your new camera. As for lenses, I agree that the 14-24/2.8 is a most worthy companion for the D800 - you don't put cheap tires on a Ferrari. The 14-24 is on par with the best prime lenses. If you later add a 70-200/4, you have all you need. With the 50/1.8, I don't think that you have a pressing need for a mid-range zoom lens.
