Just picked up a new D800e a couple of days ago (if you haven't read my other 824 posts ) and I am truly amazed at the details this camera picks up. This pic was shot with a Nikon 70-200 VRI @ 80mm handheld. The pic is far from perfect, but being handheld and down on one knee, I was surprised anything was close to focus.
I have been shooting off/on since the original Asahi Pentax K1000 days back in 1978. Every camera I have owned has always seemed evolutionary in terms of technology and image quality. Maybe I am just giddy with the new toy, but this D800e feels like the first revolutionary change I've experienced. Have I been hitting the Nikon sauce too hard or do you guys/gals feel a similar leap?
EDIT: Forgot to mention that this pic is a 85-90% crop.
My first week with my D800E was at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. I was truly shocked by the incredible detail and sharpness. The downside is when you miss focus or if depth of field is too shallow, you can see it more clearly.
