Since getting my D800 in June I have been reading all the posts I could find regarding the various battery grips available for the camera. I finally pulled the triger and purchased the Pixel Vertax D12 grip.

First impression is that construction looks excellent and the fit to the body is extremely tight with no gaps that some other 3rd party grips discussed appeasr to have. The shutter release button also feels solid.

The only strange thing about the grip is that on the front of the grip there is a female mini USB recepticle covered by a rubber cover that is not mentioned anywhere in the literature that came with the grip. Anuone have an idea what it is for?
