On the Nikon site it says:
Nikon 2 Year Extended Service Coverages Nikon sells Two Year Extended Service Coverages for most Coolpix and D-SLR cameras. ( Due to state law, Nikon ESCs are not sold in Florida, Virginia or Washington states.) These coverages extend your original Nikon warranty for two additional years. The ESC can be purchased any time within the original one (1) year Nikon Inc. warranty. Please contact your local Nikon dealer for more information. It is always recommended that you retain your original sales receipt or copy of your credit card statement as proof of purchase.

I live in the United States, but purchased a Nikon D3200 in Paris on November 22, 2013 while on vacation - my ancient Coolpix chose to die there. I bought it from a registered dealer and have a worldwide warranty. I am not finding a way to purchase an extended warranty either from Nikon USA or any of the private companies offering warranties. I have contacted Nikon Europe, but hoped someone might have ideas. I have posted this in several forums. My time is running out. Thank you!
