I am amateur and have just updated mt D300 to a D800 using mostly my 24-70 2.8 as general lens. I like to get a bit more serious in portrait ..so considering the nikon 85 mm 1.8, the Nikon 70-200 F4 or the Samyang 85 mm f/1,4 ... as you can see from above budget is one decision criteria.

I read some good articles about the Samyang when one can live with the MF ...which I would be okay to try as I do not need to earn money with my photo , just for pleasure .

But I hear a lot about the difficulty of MF on the new digital cameras ,plus the good technique the D800 requires ... and special around small DOF like F 2/0.

Any advice on how difficult MF in the real world = no studio are with a D800 ?

Thanks Bjoern
