So, I received this survey request from B&H this morning and I decided that I would fill it out.
I have purchased several things lately to get ready for the D800 hopefully coming my way.
At the top of the survey was an ORDER NUMBER. I assumed it would be one of the orders that were already shipped to me and they were wanting to get feedback on the experience. But to my surprise, it was the order # for the D800.
This whole survey was in the context of me having contacted B&H about the order - but I have not. Anyway, in the comments sections I did say that myself and others on this board were kind of perplexed as to what was going on regarding the D800 at B&H. I was careful to state that I remain a happy customer but that the lack of information had raised some concern.
So, I'll let you know if I hear back from this survey. I probably won't, but who knows.
>Adorama had a tweet up last night or this morning saying they >had no D800 info and were waiting along with everyone else. > >I really do think Nikon has left these people in the lurch. >Maybe that is why they shut down pre-orders so quickly. They >knew there was no WAY they could meet demand. > >I'm glad to have mine, but really hate it for those who are >still waiting.
I think you're right. Nikon should not have even announced a release date until they were sure they could supply the demand. Pretty big gaff if you ask me.
I also got the e- mail, but had in fact contacted them when I changed from the D800E to the D800.
I mentioned that the lack of information is so frustrating. Understand if the supply is not shipped, but some communication would be ideal--even if it just said we have no idea of the shipment date.
At this point, with Nikon off this week and B & H off next...think my D800E from Ritz will arrive first. (if release date of 4/12 holds). That will clearly solve my "E or not to E" wonderings. Thinking the first one in my hand is the one I will go with.
I got the same survey email from B&H last week. I deleted the email and never filled out the survey. It kind of makes me laugh that B&H are requesting information from me when they can't be bothered to share any information themselves. I'll try not to say anything else bad towards B&H or everyone might perceive me as being in a frenzy over the D800 and leave this thread too!
I received the same survey request. I assumed it was in response to my query of what is my rank in the list of people waiting for their pre-order. I think B&H should be able to let the buyers know if they are ranking 5th or 50th in the list. I realize they cannot give a date of delivery since they depend on Nikon's production but at least they should know how we rank. I probably will never receive a response to my query but at least I let them know of my and everyone else's concern about their lack of communications.
Besides this one complaint, I like B&H. Over time they provided me with a lot of photographic equipment in a timely fashion. Their staff is always very courteous and knowledgeable.
