Out shooting with the D800 this AM and I noticed the AF was hunting around when using some of the peripheral focus points but locked right on when I was using the focus points near the center. Lens on the camera at the time was the 14-24 2.8. Would I be correct to think that the focus issue was due to the bulbous curvature of the lens and that with the 36MP sensor, the D800 was able to pick up on the distortion/curvature of the lens at the periphery thus the focus hunting? Haven't seen that as a problem on my 24-70.
