Are S/N 3031XXX safe to buy ?
Can I asume that S/N 3031XXX is safe to buy regarding the Left AF issue ?, thanks

Until Nikon makes an official statement I'd say it's going to be difficult to know what's "safe" and "not safe". Some regarded pundits have thought that any manufactured after July 1 have corrected AF tables and most of the ones before do, too.
Personally I don't know if mine has the issue or not. I hope not but for the type of photography I do it really won't impact me. And consider than there are lots of reasons why AF won't give you what you want beyond this particular issue. Not an excuse for Nikon but a little perspective can help.

Heck I have a 3018xxx that I got July 30 and I need to test it. Shutter count was 1 on the first picture. It came from Amazon. I don't think serial numbers are what you should go by to determine if there is an issue.

You'll need to test it, but the reports I've heard are that current shipments are fine and do not have the issue.
