Compressed lossless vs. uncompressed speed

I don't recall seeing this posted so for your curiousity...

I was doing some timing tests for something else, and decided to experiment with uncompressed speeds.

Setup: Two cards, one 45mbs and one 60mbs, in backup mode, shooting a 15 shot burst, and timing from start of burst to green-light-off.

I have seen speculation that the compressed takes processor speed, may slow things down.

Compressed lossless 14 bit: 24 seconds
Uncompressed: 54 seconds

More than double!

It's all about the data size apparently, the compression itself is completely overshadowed by data write time, at least in this configuration.
