Took a few shots last nights both handheld and off the tripod using manual focus lenses (Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 ZF.2 and Hasselblad Zeiss 150mm f/2). Wasn't very happy with focusing and resulting sharpness. Probably, need to get more familiar with the camera. Will try playing with it more over the weekend.
Received word that new D800 had just arrived at the camera store. The problem was I was visiting my daughter in Virginia and the camera was in North Carolina. What the heck.....gassed up....drove 3 hours....picked up camera....drove back to Virginia! My daughter dance studio and grandson will have pictures take with my new D800 and not my D300 this weekend!
I just picked up my D800E today as well. The store called me Friday but I was 250 miles away (like Laddie) and I decided not to drive back but pick it up later. I ordered it just 2 weeks ago so delivery was fast.
I am still checking out the camera for dust, focus issues, etc. and setting it up. I won't be able to get out for real photography for a couple of days. So far everything checks out.
I have imported a few images into LR 4 and they seem very crisp. I shoot everything on a tripod and I am using a 24 f/1.4, 50 f/1.2, 85 PC-E, and 100 Zeiss Makro-Planar at present.
Mine arrived yesterday as well, 3 weeks after ordering from a local camera shop. Serial number in the high 2300s with the latest firmware already installed. Nikon must be cranking them out! So far, the only problem I've noticed is that I can't get the grid display in the viewfinder to turn on. I know the setting (d6), but it has no effect. No big deal at this point.
