This morning I ordered online from BB a D800. It will be available for pickup at the local store next Tuesday. I also have a D800E on pre-order from several vendors. Looking forward to comparing the two, if the E ever becomes available.
The availability didn't last long. When I checked again late morning, it was once again shown as "Sold Out Online." Glad I got my order in. Also nice to be traveling through a state with no sales tax, so I was spared that expense. (We're RVers who happen to be in Montana for a month.)
Keep checking! Stopped in again at my local BB in Alexandria VA inquiring on the D800 but none available Clerk checked stores around area and records showed 3 at the BB in Fair Lakes Mall in Fairfax VA. Called and Customer Service held one for me. Rushed and picked up at 5:00pm today. Store had one left after my purchase, if anyone is interested.
I have never had a salesperson go so far out of their way to help me before as when I dropped by the Citrus Heights California Best Buy. It took 3 days to find one but my salesgirl did it and a couple days later was able to pick it from the store a day earlier than promised. She even came into the store on her day off to make sure i got it without problems. And, she was not on commission. Compared to the other big chains or any of the specialty online sales operations, Best Buy is more customer service oriented than any of them. Stan St Petersburg Russia
