Interesting, the 10mm lens is cheaper (and bigger and heavier) than the regular Nikon 1 10mm.
I was skeptical at first, but since getting the V1 I am a convert, I barely touch my D200 anymore. Waterproof, shockproof, compatible with the existing 1 range, it is as if it is custom made for a klutz like me!
Certainly like it, but I too was hoping for an announcement of some additional 1 lenses , I would like to see a macro. Or a micro- in Nikon-speak
I had mine out on a hike in Vermont where we got 3" of rain in one hour and it would have been wonderful to be taking images of that event. I had my gear in a Domke messenger bag and it survived but no way I could have taken it out of the bag.
Greetings, I am a new member and enjoying scanning the forum. I have two that I purchased from Samy's Camera in Southern California. I am not a Pro, but a avid amateur. I am using the AW1's for landscape and stream photography. Having an all purpose while in the woods is often very useful. (I also have Leica M's but delicate).
? Question: since this is my first Nikon digital, is it necessary to install the NIkon supplied software "ViewNX 2/Short Movie Creator"? I usually do not install extra sw and not sure what the forum has to share.
Welcome. It's not mandatory to install View NX2. It is supplied as a convenience for owners who don't have a photo-viewing utility and want to do basic editing/file management of stills and movie clips taken with the camera.
