I just bought a V1 to use with a microscope, and I was explaining to my wife that it was an "EVIL camera" and that the industry would prefer us to use the acryonym "MILC" instead. In the process of this conversation, I decided to use Google to see how often the terms were used.
A search for "evil camera" (with quotation marks) returned the following result. Note the first 3 numbers:
About 66,600 results (0.29 seconds)
FWIW, "milc camera" yields:
About 4,470 results (0.25 seconds)

EVIL was being used as an acronym for a long time so it will need a lot longer time to be displaced by a different acronym. I'm sure whoever thought of EVIL thought they were being terribly clever.
