Quick fix for no image on the monitor screen. After much frustration and reviewing the menues, I finally cleaned the rear monitor window and problem solved. A great small camera for trips, but my i phone 4s was very good and convenient with high qualtiy pictures in the 4x6 format for my wife's travel album.

Mine has a crack or scratch in the eye sensor. Cleaning doesn't have a lasting effect. It will have to go back to Nikon.
Ever since I received the V1 my monitor has been flaky, it would be on and then quit, sometimes shutting down and removing the battery would restore it. Finally it has completely quit only flashes for a second when initially turned on. So it is back to Nikon, I have had Nikons since 1951 and this is first time to send one back. Can someone tell me what the proceedure is plus the address on the California Nikon repair shop.
Note that Nikon should only get the camera - not the lens or battery. It's up to you if you want to remove the strap but I typically would just send the body with a body cap and no other accessories.
For warranty repair, send the warranty card that came with your camera and your original receipt.
Nikon Service tends to under communicate, so: Use tracking to confirm receipt by Nikon. Expect a few days to a week after receipt before you hear anything Look for a status update online - but it will be very general Your camera will probably turn up "like magic" - you may not hear any kind of update until it turns up on your doorstep.
Nikon service is pretty good - they check lots of things and usually make any needed adjustments. They just under communicate.
Lenses typically have a separate warranty card. Call Nikon by phone if you do not have a warranty card and see if one is needed. If you have the receipt and it is not a gray market lens, you should not have a problem.
