In a few weeks I will be shooting my grandson's dance recital. Last year I used the D90 and this year I will be using my D7000. Last year I made some mistakes that I do not want to repeat. I will again be using my Nikon F 1.8 50 mm lens. Last year I shot from a distance of 50 feet so I had a decent FOV. Two of my big mistakes were spot metering and aperture priority. This year I plan to set my D7000 as follows:

Shutter priority
Continuous Servo AF
CH release mode
Matrix metering
21 point dynamic are AF
AF-C AF mode
Max. ISO sens. of 3200

Am I on the right track? Also should i consider renting a zoom such as a Nikkor 24-70 F2.8 lens. The Nikkor 70-200 F2.8 might be too heavy as I have some rotator cuff issues. Any suggestions and comments would be appreciated.
