Outstanding photo. Since I am new at this, what is the advantage of infared and mirrow locking in taking this photo? Also I see you used a teleconverter. Can I use a nikon teleconverter on another lens such as the tamron 18-270 which is the one I have. I assume a teleconverter will work with a zoom lens?
I took the same moon photo, hand held with the above lens and it does not come close the the quality of your photo.
Well done, JG. I think you have demonstrated the superiority of the prime over the zoom. I have yet to get as good a moon shot with either my 70-200VR + TC-20E III or my Sigma 150-500OS + Kenko 1.4TC also on tripod with MirrorUp and wireless remote release. You can select the remote release (around the dial with A,S,M,U1, U2 and P on it). In the menu, you can program to lock up mirror on first click and take picture with the second and mirror comes down automaticly. Great feature of the D7000.
