I have both the Nikon TC-14II and the Kenko x1.4 pro teleconverters. I must admit I have never been able to differentiate between the two in either speed of AF or image quality. However, I recently bought the AF-S 80-400mm which works perfectly with the Nikon TC, but certainly doesn't like being connected to the Kenko!

It makes a loud low pitched humming noise and VR fails to activate properly. I actually have no intention of using this lens with a TC either Nikon or Kenko, but thought I would just try the combinations. I removed it quickly in case it damaged the camera or lens. I never had a problem when it was fitted on my 300mm f4 AF-S.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone has thoughts about buying the Kenko. It could of course just be peculiar to my copy.
