When going from U2 (shutter priority) to U1 (aperture priority) on my D7100,the f value always jumps to f/20 and stays there (but the camera adjusts the shutter speed according to what target I am metering). No Auto-ISO is used. This behavior happens only when switching from U2 (or Scenes) to U1.
Why is the camera selecting this particular f/20 value? I tried another lens without success, same issue.
I cannot find if this is a setting creating this situation (getting old) or if the camera has a problem. Any idea?
It's could be the last value you had selected in A mode. Select some other aperture while in U1, switch to U2, and then switch back. If you see your last selected aperture you have your answer, if you get f/20 then I have no idea.
Does this happen with other lenses? Could be a lens issue.

A quick test with my D7100 indicates that if you select A mode, select an f-stop and save to U1 that selecting U1 will in fact return to the f-stop you saved -- so U1/U2 will remember the f-stop in A mode (presumably the shutter-speed in S-mode).
