I will be travelling on vacation in June and doing some heavy shooting.

I plan to download JPG/NEF files from my D7100 to my Macbook Air laptop. Its internal HD is getting maxed out, so I wanted to use an external portable hard drive (for the very first time).

Here's the Question:

I have a choice of
(a) a relatively inexpensive 2Tb USB2.0 HardDrive or
(b) a 1Tb Thunderbolt drive for about double the price

My MacbookAir does not have USB 3.0

Will the downloads to the Thunderbolt be significantly faster than to a USB2.0 hard drive?

Thanks for the help and advice.
