I have a VERY faint, mildly transparent "moon" showing up in my viewfinder when I focus on an image, especially one that includes a blue sky or contrasting background. It is there regardless of whichever lens I have mounted. It does not show up in the resulting images- yet. It is right over the single servo image focus point in the viewfinder.

I've done the menu-based "clean image sensor" with no luck. I've clean the eye piece through which I look into the viewfinder.

Strangely enough, when I take the lens off, and with the camera off, look through the viewfinder at a light, the "moon" looks like it almost belongs there, like it is the center of the focus. I don't know nearly enough about this camera or any others to know if this is conceivably possible.

Thoughts? Should I clean the image sensor? If so, how? I've read the manual's suggestions. Failing this, does it require a Nikon specialist? As I said, the "moon" isn't showing up in the resulting images yet.
