D7100 Live view photography question.

When shooting in live view manual mode, why doesn't the monitor display show changes in shutter speed, aperture, iso, etc. The only change I see is the exposure indicator in the lower right corner.
Wouldn't it be more useful if the display actually changed based on your exposure adjustments? Then in live view you would sort of be able to see your results before hitting the shutter. Even my glorified Canon point&shoot (sx40hs) does it.
Is this something Nikon could change with a firmware update/upgrade?
